 Individual Psychotherapy

Individual therapy is a collaborative relationship between patient and psychologists focused on addressing mental health challenges, significant life events, emotional distress, and personal growth. My approach is highly personalized for each patient depending on their concerns and needs, though I typically draw from cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches.

Individual therapy will begin with a 90-minute evaluation ($350) that allows me to comprehensively gather to relevant clinical, historical, and personal information to develop a working “case conceptualization” that outlines the challenges you’ve experienced and skills that we can practice together. If we agree to work together, we will schedule a time for therapy sessions.

Therapy sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long ($300) and the duration/course of treatment can vary person to person (6+ session). Special rates will be applied for first responders, or those working in the medical field. Longer sessions can be requested based on the hourly rate.

I do not accept insurance, therefore I am not restricted by session limits or diagnosis which can sometimes limit patients seeking or continuing treatment. I can produce bills for patients seeking their own out-of network reimbursements here.

 Couple and Family Therapy

This work defines the “patient” as the couple or family as a unit, with all members having equal input in the needs and goals of therapy. I have unique expertise and over 10 years of training in foundational couple and family therapy approaches (Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Structural Family Therapy). In my role as a researcher and academic instructor I focus on developing novel therapies to help couples and families navigate communication challenges and role changes. I also developed and taught an undergraduate course called “The Science of Intimate Relationships,” and have published over 20 peer reviewed journal articles on couple and family relationships. My specific areas of expertise involve helping families cope with individual chronic health conditions (e.g., brain injury, dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, chronic pain, depression), support to minimize relationship conflict, and navigate non-traditional relationships.
